- Preview the file in Kindle Previewer or an eReader app, then upload it to KDP or Send to Kindle.
About this tool
Amazon KDP recommends EPUB for Kindle ebooks, and it has stopped accepting the old MOBI format. This tool turns your manuscript into a clean, standards-based EPUB 3 file with a cover, title page, chapter files, a clickable table of contents and simple, readable styling.
How to prepare your Word file
- Apply the built-in Heading 1 style to each chapter title — every Heading 1 starts a new chapter.
- Use Heading 2 for sub-sections inside a chapter.
- Bold, italics, lists and images are kept.
- Avoid text boxes, columns and manual page breaks — ebooks reflow, so they aren’t needed.
Cover tips for KDP
Amazon recommends an ebook cover of about 1600 × 2560 pixels (1:1.6 ratio) in JPG. When you publish on KDP you upload the cover separately too, so keep the file handy.
Your manuscript is processed only in your browser and never uploaded.
